Hello everybody!
Well, as some of you might know I have been away for the past year teaching English in Taiwan and then after that I became a nanny for a very wealthy family. Now I have quit that job and am ready for the next semester to start in January. Until school starts, I want to get into some substitute teaching to get a better feel for how things work in the school systems with lots of different age groups. Have any of you ever tried subbing? Is it an easy thing to get involved with? If anybody has some information about how to go about to be a substitute teacher, I would love to hear it.
Thanks,
Jaimie

First Days of School

I received an extra copy of this book as a gift. If anyone is interested in buying it, let me know! It is still shrink-wrapped and includes a CD-Rom. I have heard from multiple teachers that this book was their best resource for getting though the first little bit of their first year of teaching. Leave a comment here or email me at lkoster329@gmail.com
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer break! (Does anyone else think it's going by too quickly?)

Where will you be in the Fall?
Wow - I have really stunk at updating this blog! I was thinking that, with a new year starting, it would be really nice to know where everyone will be for the upcoming school year. Hopefully, that way, we can keep in touch and provide some moral support! If you know where you are going to be in the Fall, leave a comment below!

Help!
If any of you are interning right now, I need you! How did you prepare for your interview? Did you bring any kind of paperwork with you? Any advice?
I have an interview on Friday and could use any suggestions anyone has (even if you're not interning!).
If you do have any suggestions, email me! lkoster329@gmail.com
Thanks!

Teen Reads?

I have a lot of time on my hands right now, so I am trying to read some Adolescent novels that are hot right now and my students might be reading (or be interested in reading). The problem: I have no idea what's big right now! Besides Twilight and Harry Potter, does anyone have any suggestions for either novels that have worked in your classroom or just good books to have under my belt? I took Kay's Adolescent Lit class, so I have read all of those, but any other suggestions would be fantastic. Maybe I will even compile these into a permanent list on the blog!
